.Growth Equity is one of the segments of Private Equity Industry which are generally known as Growth Capital. This Growth Capital can be seen as an extension to the
Venture Capital as the former focuses on mature companies whereas the latter focuses on the early stage companies (Garland, Russ. Venture Wire,2013). Another major
advantage of Growth Capital over Venture Capital is that they invariably tend to generate profit as the investments are made only on mature companies and not on start
ups. Generally, Growth Equity firms generally have minority interest or stakes with little leverage as they focus returns on growth. There are few reasons as to why
few companies approach Growth Equity firms when they are in a mature phase and it could be as follows (Cambridge Associates LLC Research Report,2013) :
a) To expand their operations
b) To restructure current business
c) To enter into new markets or to develop new product in the existing market
d) To acquire a competing business
