The student will be able to develop and/or apply current aviation and industry related research methods, including problem identification, hypothesis formulation, and interpretation of findings to present as solutions in the investigation of an aviation / aerospace related topic.• The problem identification will look at which of the two types of aircraft, either the 747-8 or the Airbus A380, is the most cost effective.• The hypothesis formulation is that the Boeing 747-8 series aircraft will be better suited to meet the needs of the clients seeking to move freight. Whereas, the Airbus A380 will be the better choice if the need for massive passenger movement (commercial) is needed.• The interpretation of findings will be based on the data extracted from both company’s web sites and other websites concerning these two aircraft, Boeing 747-8 and Airbus A380. Furthermore, I may look at other literature that may better determine the validity of which aircraft is more cost effective.The student will be able to identify and apply appropriate statistical analysis, to include techniques in data collection, review, critique, interpretation and inference in the aviation and aerospace industry.
• The techniques in data collection aspect will gather various tables and statistical data from Boeing.com, Airbus.com and other sources like Airports-Worldwide.com in order to facilitate the determination of which aircraft is the most cost effective.• The review, critique, interpretation and inference aspect will examine and decipher the various pieces of data in order to show the technical differences of each aircraft, examine and describe how both airlines came to their conclusion on how to design their new airframe and review and critique each plane against the other in areas like seating capacity, fuel economy and overall usability.
