Essay #2. The Baroque era was a period of development and innovation in the field of music. Give a detailed description of three (3) music genres that developed during this time period. I am interested in hearing about the stylistic characteristics of these new Baroque music genres as well as the names of composers and titles of compositions that represent them. The Baroque genres you can write about include: opera, oratorio, cantata, organ chorale, concerto, and concerto grosso. I suggest that the best way to approach this essay is to write about these music genres using the compositions on the LISTEN CD set as a point of reference. Use the textbook Listen (especially the Listening Charts) and the discussion threads in D2L as your guide. Remember, you only need to choose three examples (compositions) to discuss in this essay.
