Film and Philosophy mainly focused on ‘oneiric’ film theory

The American philosopher, Suzanne Langer, in her book Feeling and Form, suggested that filmic experience was closest to that of a dream. Identify and discuss one
Freudian analysis of film that you find particularly convincing.
Please do follow these:
You are not expected to tackle Langer’s ideas in this assignment; her suggestion simply provides a pretext for the assignment question and your focus should be instead
on what is known as ‘oneiric’ film theory and, as will become apparent, it is possible to work with this theory without also accepting psychoanalytic interpretation as
the only way to go. There are a number of websites where this idea is developed at some length – most of these come from the first file on film as philosophy already
sent to you and available on the Learning Network.
On film as dream:

The standard source for Freudian ideas in relation to film is his early text – The Interpretation of Dreams, but this has been supplemented by various secondary
authors and by individual essays that Freud wrote over the twenty or so years that followed the publication of The Interpretation of Dreams. Here are some relevant

There are many more audiobooks – of varying degrees of tedium – and now something directly about film:
