For the assignment, write a paper between seven to eight pages. In addition, please use a proper form of citation, incorporate a 12 point Times or Times New Roman
Font, double-space your essay, include proper margins and pagination with a separate cover page, and be sure to cite ALL of your sources appropriately and thoroughly
with a works cited page or bibliography.

In this assignment, you are to write on the foreign relations of China using the Denny Roy text, Return of the Dragon and Timothy Beardson’s tome Stumbling Giant, as
your primary sources. You may write on any one of a number of foreign policy issues, bilateral relationships, or multilateral organizations, so long as China is the
main country you examine as part of this assignment. You must use at least five outside sources as part of this assignment for background and different perspectives
on the relationship, issue, or organization you choose to examine more closely. The following list will help direct you towards scholarly resources as well as
resources that are held highly in the foreign policy community. Of those five sources, you must use at least three scholarly articles or books for this assignment,
not including Roy’s text or the Beardson’s book. Your assignments will be due Thursday, June 9th by 6 pm. Please bring in a hard copy and upload an electronic
version to SafeAssign on iLearn. Here is a list of journals, think tanks, and research organizations that might be useful for this assignment.

• What is the national security interest of China? How is it reflected in the approach of China towards this neighbor, issue, or institution?
• What approaches and tools has China used in pursuit of its national objectives with respect to this country, issue, or organization? What has been the
response by China’s neighbors with respect to these approaches and tools?
• How does China’s rise impact its international relations and foreign policy? Does China see its interests differently in light of its increased capacities?
What is the response of its neighbor/rival, other countries, or international institutions to this rise?
• Is China’s rise a positive, negative, or mixed outcome for this bilateral relationship, this issue, or this institution? Explain why in your paper.
