With increased globalization, friendship and networking skills are paramount in a person’s life. However, developing such skills must begin early enough. In essence,
the skills are developed when a student is active in extra-curricular activities. I suggest that a new college student that seeks to develop such networking skills
should join Relay for Life.
Ideally, the group primarily conducts events such as fundraising for American Cancer Society. The fundraising is held each year around d the world. Interestingly,
besides spreading awareness and celebrating lives of cancer survivors, the event helps to raise money for cancer research and cancer patients. Nevertheless, the group
remembers those that have succumbed to cancer.
In principle, Relay for Life takes place on school tracks, hence little or no costs are incurred by a student that is in its planning team. Idyllically, by joining
communities that plan the vent, it is possible for a student to meet new people because the schools that participate in the event are significantly many. Furthermore,
there are many committees to join in the group, hence guaranteeing a group member a chance to learn a new skill. For instance, one can join corporate sponsorship,
marketing, recruitment, and events team.
Therefore, after joining the Relay For Life planning group, there are high chances that the team member gets significantly involved. Despite that the teams are
different, the team members work as a whole team and have an opportunity of knowing each other while creating an event that is hugely successful for a great cause.
More so, despite that it occurs once in each year, the activities and events involved are significant for development of the member skills such as planning,
socializing and meeting deadlines.
