Gaddis deals with an element of war preparation, the idea of Grand Strategy, playing the long game in an attempt to use Causewitz’s concept of “policy,” as in “policy
by other means” as a combined military/diplomatic exercise. Compare that to what Mao Zedong and the Communists did to gain political control and unite republican China
into a socialist state controlled by the Communist Party. How do these add to or challenge what we’ve done so far?
