Read chapters 1-4 of Akers, R.L. & Sellers, C.S. (2013). Criminological Theories: Introduction, Evaluation, and Application. Oxford University Press, afterwards read the following criminal profile. Using the theories that are within these chapters, explain which theory you think (1) applies best and (2) does not apply well.

Description of the criminal:
– Male
– Born to a teenage mother who was a runaway, an alcoholic, and a criminal
– Spent time living with family members and in reform schools
– Started stealing at age nine
– Married at 19, had a child, continued stealing to make extra money
– Sent to prison, divorced while in prison
– Conned, stole checks, and pimped when released
– Married again, had another child
– Sent back to prison, divorced while incarcerated
– Released again
– Master manipulator, conned people into committing murders
