VH Innovation Ltd is the parent company behind the Recoil Kneepad. The Recoil Kneepad is the next generation in joint protection for the manual trades industry. It differentiates itself from existing kneepads through a patent pending double layer spring technology which absorbs impact and spreads pressure evenly across the knee joint.

– What, in your opinion, is causing the issue? 1. Identifying cost effective distribution channels to the international market.

At present, Recoil is manufactured and distributed from a facility in Glasgow. This has been fine for UK sales, however logistically the costs of sending one set of kneepads abroad from the UK are excessive (£30-£40 per set). As we are now experiencing an increase in international interest and requests for the product abroad we need to identify a cost effective international distribution network. We have conducted some research into possible solutions to this and suggest that identifying a distribution warehouse or partner in each of the countries of interest (US, Canada, Australia, NZ, Europe) may be a viable option, however we have not done any research into the costs and logistics associated. We would like some assistance with:
• Researching and proposing a range of options available to us for international distribution, then
• Providing a price breakdown of the costs associated with the proposed distribution channels
• Proposing which option would be the most viable and cost effective

2. Consider a marketing strategy for the international market which goes hand in hand with the distribution channels identified.

Similar to the above objective. Once we have the distribution networks in place we will need to develop a suitable marketing strategy that complements our distribution network. As of yet we have done no research into this and therefore would look for assistance with:
• Researching and proposing a range of marketing techniques available for entry into each international market identified
• Developing a marketing plan for the international markets in discussion with timescales and budgets proposed

1. Teamwork – this project will require all team members to work together to develop both a supply chain and marketing strategy that meets the needs of the business.
2. Communication – both within their own internal team, dealing with a client and also with communicating with suppliers
3. International Marketing – an opportunity to develop skills within the marketing field through analysing existing marketing activity and then consideration and proposals of innovative new marketing techniques for the international market
4. Knowledge of supply chain – an opportunity to gain an understanding of UK manufacture and then the logistical challenges of supplying internationally from the UK
5. Problem Solving Skills – from initial research there are a variety of options going to be available for setting up an international distribution and marketing strategy; therefore the team will be required to evaluate and scope out the best solution available. .
