Country Presentation: The purpose of this exercise is to learn about various countries from a business culture
perspective.
Instructions:
Please select a country and get the approval from Dr. Ramsey
Prepare a presentation on your selected country covering the following topics:
Brief overview of the country (no more than three slides on country highlights like capital, languages spoken,
government, religion, economic outlook, short history, export/import etc.)
Country analysis using Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions. Make sure you discuss concrete examples of the most
salient dimensions.
Culture analysis using Richard Lewis’s cultural types. Concrete examples to support your analysis.
Culture analysis using Erin Meyer’s culture map. Use concrete examples to support your analysis.
National business culture (do an internet search on the various topics below, as a starter point see business
practices and business culture discussions in the Global Road Warrior Lynn library database, see image below).
You must cover:
Business practices (punctuality, business meetings and presentations, appointments, office hours, etc.)
Business entertaining, business attire and gift giving.
Greetings, addressing, and gestures. Again, you must use concrete, supporting examples for each point covered.
Requirement:

Discuss the most salient dimensions and give concrete examples. If your country has not been analyzed using
the framework, talk with your instructor.
Culture analysis using Richard Lewis’s cultural types. Describe observations to support your analysis.
Culture analysis using Erin Meyer’s culture map. Describe observations in each of the following dimensions:
communicating, evaluating, leading, deciding, trusting, disagreeing, scheduling, persuading.

Safe conversation topics. Controversial issues to avoid.

Standard business attire in major cities. Attire for business and presentations, attire for social and networking
events.
Difference in business attire, if any, between interior and coastal areas, northern and southern areas, etc.
