Management Information Systems G (9503)

Select an information system for which you are familiar and are able to get access to appropriate information.
The information system of concern should have experienced some sort of incident or failure sometime over the last 2 years. Details of the report are specified below.
You will need to provide a preliminary report on 13 March that provides a description of the system, the incident of concern, and the identification of key stakeholders and their role with the information system.
Your description of the system should include a rich picture diagram along with an activity diagram (business process model) providing details of the associated business processes the information system is embedded within. Rich picture and activity diagrams should cover the processes of the information system in detail.
Your preliminary report should also contain a draft plan for the final report. This should be a list of the main headings along with a brief description (one or two sentences per section) of what you expect to include in the section.

• The organisation this information system sits in, and the connections that your chosen Information system has with organisational innovation: (brief description one or two sentences)
• Issues that may appear in a business case for this system : (a brief description one or two sentences)
• Decision making processes that the information system might support: (a brief description one or two sentences)
• Information security issues associated with the information systems: (a brief description one or two sentences)
• About the incident and/or failure of the system. What caused the incident or failure: (a brief description one or two sentences)
• impact on the system and key stakeholders: (a brief description one or two sentences)
• Was the system able to fully recover following the incident? Were there any information security connections with the incident? (a brief description one or two sentences)
