Read the following 3 articles on that cover the publication of a relatively benign scientific study. It may only be necessary to read the abstract and discussion of the original publication. While reading, note the language used by each of the respective authors. After reading these articles answer the following questions in 1-2 pages double-spaced (250-500 words). Use evidence to support your remarks. Be sure to cite information and quotations where appropriate using APA formatting. Submit the assignment to Live Text by the date listed. 1) What claims or arguments are made by each of the authors? What evidence do they use to support their claims? 2) Compare and contrast conclusive statements from each news article specifically looking at the type of language used. Which is the more extreme statement? 3) Illustrate any misrepresentation of the original source material as best you can. Does the study cited in these news articles support the claims made by the author? Is the position of the author justified? Why or why not? 4) How do YOU interpret the findings of this study? What is the new scientific knowledge acquired by this study? (hint: look for information in the conclusion/discussion)
