Order Description
Project 1: The Survey Says: Conducting a Descriptive Research Study “Barriers to Accepting Health Information Technologies”
Step One Paper 1
Introduction: With the rapid transformation of the U.S. health care industry, today’s HIM (including health care managers) professional requires an advanced level of skill sets and training. This includes the basic ability to conduct health care research and analysis raw data in order to derive meaningful information. Conduct a descriptive research study on the assigned topic “Barriers to Accepting Health Information Technologies”.
Deliverables: Submit one (1) single document at the conclusion of Step 1A and B. Your submission must include an APA-formatted cover sheet.
Step One (Part A): Identifying the Variables-
o Given the assigned research topic “Barriers to Accepting Health Information Technologies”, identify your independent and dependent study variable(s) [Refer to the accompanying reference document attached below titled “Pointers for Completing Steps One (Part A & B)]
• Step One (Part B): Formulate The Hypothesis-
o State your hypothesis [Refer to the accompanying reference document attached below titled “Pointers for Completing Step One (Part A & B)]
Step Two Paper 2:
At this point you should have devised both the variables (independent and dependent) and hypothesis as it relates to the assigned topic “Barriers to Accepting Health Information Technologies”. At this point, let’s move forward and build upon steps one in order to complete the first deliverable due, step two.
Deliverables: Submit one (1) single document at the conclusion of Step 2. Your submission must include an APA-formatted cover sheet.
Step Two: Designing a Research Survey & Soliciting Participants-
o Part A. Creating a Cover Letter
? Create a one (1) single page cover letter that discusses the following:
? An overview of the topic/study [Hint Hint “Refer to the assigned topic “Barriers to Accepting Health Information Technologies”]
? State the purpose/need of the study
? State the variables of the study [originally created in step one]
? State the hypothesis [originally created in step two]
? State your sample size and explain the reasoning behind the selected size
? Discuss the expected benefits of the study
? Discuss how you plan to pilot test the survey before soliciting participants
? Include an official statement requesting participation in the study
? Identify and explain any associated risk(s) by participating in the study. In addition, discuss your plan(s)/measure(s) to ensure the confidentiality, privacy and security of the collected data gathered from completed surveys
? State a specific deadline to complete the survey, shall not exceed sixty (60) days [state in the format of Month, Date & Year]
? Share your data retention schedule and the process of discarding the collected data [provide specifics on how the data will be discarded and the time frame of completion]
? Closing Remarks (along with your contact information) [Include the name and contact number of the designed person of contact, any
Step Three Paper 3
Using the provided UMUC, Human Research Project Notification Form, complete numbered items 1-5 only on the provided form, by providing pertinent information in regards to your Descriptive Research Study on the assigned topic “Barriers to Accepting Health Information Technology”. UMUC, Human Research Project Notification & Human Subjects Protection Form is an alternative to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Application for the purpose of this assignment. Upon your submission, the proposed UMUC IRB Board will review your form and follow up with a decision to support your proposed study [Hint Hint: for the purpose of this assignment, your instructor will serve as your IRB Board]. A final draft of the project containing steps 1-3 that includes the UMUC, Human Research Project Notification & Human Subjects Protection Form is due at the conclusion of step 3 paper 3
Project 2: Capstone Project— 3 single space pages (6 double spaces for payment)
Over the last seven (7) weeks, we have explored various topics as it relates to health information and informatics research methods that are applicable for health care administrators. The purpose of this assignment is to create the outline/agenda to your proposed capstone project, in order to further expand on the expected knowledge, skills and abilities that students are expected to obtain at the conclusion of the course. Refer to the attachment below titled “Week 8 Introduction to HCAD 670 Evidence-Based Research Capstone Outline” for the complete assignment details. (see attachment to this order)
Deliverables: At the conclusion of Week Eight, submit two (2) – three (3) single APA-formatted assignment along with a cover and reference sheet. At minimum, your outline must include the following items listed below.
Outline/Agenda
• A proposed topic/title
• Proposed research statement [one paragraph]
• Introduction to the problem [one paragraph]
• Purpose of the study one – two paragraphs]
• Simply list 2-3 proposed research questions
• Annotated Bibliography [reflecting a total of five peer-reviewed references]
Project 3 “Grant Writing Experience: Creating a Perfect Proposal” (5 pages, 10 references)
This three (3) part assignment is intended to walk a student throughout a typical grant writing process. At the conclusion of the assignment, you will develop an understanding of the grant writing process along with the actual hands-on experience.
Deliverables: Submit a final draft of your assignment. Your submission must include an APA-formatted cover and reference sheet. Submit one (1) single document at the conclusion of Week Twelve no later than Sunday, by 11:59 PM EST.
Part I:
Create a one (1) page Needs Statement that addresses the following:
• the reason for requesting funding
• the significant need for the grant with existing literature and research to support the assertion
• the goals or expected results
• who will be served by the grant
Part II: Locating Potential Funding Sources:
Conduct an internet search and list a minimum of ten (10) possible funding sources. Each grant has to be viable to your overall grant proposal and not solely related to the focus of the proposal. Your list must include the name of the grants, the funding source [name of the organization/association], along with the website address for each listed funding source.
Part III: Grant Proposal
Your three (3) page grant proposal will include the following:
• Title page
• 100-word summary of the project
• Outline the plan of action to implement the grant, describing the activities and a sequence of events. The description also included who on the staff of the organization would be involved; what kind of training, if necessary, would be for the staff; the anticipated outcomes; and the method of evaluating the success of the project
• Explanation on why should your organization receive the grant? What resources and competencies does it have to successfully use the grant? Will you be working with other organizations on this grant? What qualifications do individuals in the organization have to contribute?
