This type of rhetoric relies on the writer utilizing organization (or arrangement) carefully. You must establish a connection with your readers (exordium), set out the context of the debate (narration), establish your argument and the opposing viewpoint (division), provide compelling evidence (proof), break down your opponent’s argument (refutation), and finally leave your readers with a strong impression of your ideas (peroration). For this essay, choose an ongoing debate in our society. This can be political, environmental, social, global or local. Any topic—as long as it’s a debate—is open.
