Given that you are rolling your services out in a foreign country, there will be a need to learn from other companies that are currently operating overseas. In particular, if a company can learn from others operating in the same region or location where they wish to operate, this can be quite helpful. What others have done to be effective and recognized by others can be viewed by their use of certain business practices. If we look at what others are doing and form a benchmark of key practices and procedures, we can learn from others as to what may work or not work in certain businesses, locations, situations, and services (and production manufacturing). Thus, this leads us to a very important area of research for this week?s assignment.
1. Why is it important to consider benchmarking and best practices to determine the most cost effective and efficient means to operate in a country?
2. What if the regional traditional partners are required or encouraged by local governments but do not satisfy your quality standards?
3. Students should use reference material from course readings and outside sources when needed to strengthen your argument.

Evaluation Procedures
Grades for this course will be based upon four grading instruments. There are discussion questions that are provided in the Discussion Board. The student will respond to discussion topic and the posting of other students. The assignments are used to review what you have learned from reading and independent research.
The grade scale for each of the evaluation are provided below:
CPC-Based Pre-Assessment
During Week 1 of this course, each student must complete the CPC-based Pre-Assessment provided by Peregrine Academic Services. The assessment results are used to measure program-level learning outcomes as required by accreditation authorities. You are required to complete the assessment in order to complete this course. We need you to do your best in order for us to have the best possible data for our continuous improvement process.
The assessment is a graded assignment; however, you get full credit for simply completing the assessment–the grade is not based on your score. The purpose of the assessment is to establish a baseline knowledge level related to the business program you are taking with APUS. Please do your best, but please keep in mind that this is only an initial measurement of your graduate-level business knowledge.
The 100-question online instrument (10 topic areas; 10 questions/topic) is administered by Peregrine Academic Services. The topics, which correspond to the core business program related to your degree, are as follows:
1. Accounting
2. Business Ethics
3. Business Finance
4. Business Integration and Strategic Management
5. Economics
6. Global Dimensions of Business
7. Legal Environment of Business
8. Management
9. Marketing
10. Quantitative Research Techniques and Statistics
Keep in mind that this is a program-level assessment of your business knowledge. As such, it is not expected that you will necessarily know the answer to every question. It is a standardized assessment used with many different colleges and universities.

For example, your initial reply might be lacking some content or detail but through engagement with other students, your discussions might conclude with enough detail and explanation to earn full points. Your discussion board grade will be based on your first reply (possible 50%) and your further engagement with your classmates (50%) in terms of participation.
