Purpose of assessment task 1 (will be uploaded to Turnitin No more 8%):

This 2000 word assessment task is an assignment that requires you to engage critically with current research evidence relevant to a specific clinical problem or research question and produce an annotated bibliography.
Assignment topic(2000 words):
In this assignment, you are asked to review primary literature related to the prevention of pressure injuries and produce an annotated bibliography. There are five (5) journal articles in total and they are referenced below. Immobility, such as that associated with extended bed rest in hospital, can cause pressure injuries. Pressure injuries are a major contributor to the care needs of patients within the health industry (ACSQHC, 2012).
Question for annotated bibliography
What does the consensus and empirical evidence tell us about interventions and processes for pressure injury prevention in acute care health services?
References to be annotated (these references must be used)

How should you develop your annotated bibliography?
In your assignment, you are asked to review the five articles referenced above and provide five separate ‘annotations’ (structured summaries).
The annotation should contain two main sections (not titled):
1. Description – a brief summary of the article that includes (depending on the type of article):
– main focus of the journal article – aims or argument.
-research design and methods.
-summary of findings/conclusions, theory or argument.
2. Appraisal/evaluation:
-Comment on the usefulness or limitations of the article in relation to your question i.e. weaknesses, reliability, missing content.
-Evaluate the article in terms of its ‘fit’ with your research topic i.e. relevance, scope (reflection).
How should you format your annotated bibliography?
1. Number the annotations (1 – 5), and
2. Organise in alphabetical order according to first author’s surname.
3. For each entry, provide full bibliographic details of the source using Deakin Harvard method (i.e. reference) –not included in the word count.
4. Each annotation:
A. Should not exceed 350-400 words
B. May have more than one paragraph
C. Can contain dot points within the body of the annotation d. Should incorporate the two components of an annotation i.e. description and appraisal/evaluation.
5. The actual presentation can be in the form of free text or table according to personal preference.
