I will upload the essay task later as a jpeg format picture. I wanted to point out few things about the essay prompt. For this assignment we had to go to the poetry reading and I went to the one in chicago downtown on nov 10th (Poetry Foundation) poems were read by Patricia Smith and Reginald Dwayne Betts. The event held at 61 West Superior street.
They both wrote poems about the police brutality (against african american people) So the racism issue I would say. The poems were narrative meaning, non fiction based on a true story. They would verbally list the cases from all over the US, where african american people got shot by police officers by accident thinking that they all had an object in their arms that looked like a gun to the officers or their actions, movements were considered as a potential threat to them and they had to justify themselves saying that it was a protective mechanism if you will.
The essay is a personal narrative type of essay but with a slight difference. The essay is about my feelings and experience gained attending to the poetry reading for the first time ever. I liked it a lot. Please wright something nice and follow the main task uploaded on the picture.
