from the perspectives of how Bertrand Russell, Socrates, and Descartes would approach the question of whether God exists and how we can know – or not know – that. Based on your understanding of how each of those three approach the question of uncertainty, not knowing, or doubt, how would you think that each would respond to Anselm’s argument? Why?

Your essay should first set out Anselm’s basic argument that it is impossible to conceive that God does not exist. Then, discuss that argument from the point of view of each of the three other philosophers, relying on what they’ve said in the readings we’ve studied. Paraphrase where possible to show your understanding of their position (with an in-text cite with page number).
