Abstract
The vitality of Knowledge Management in the Government of Bahrain has been emphasized mainly through the establishment of an e-government in the country. This paper sought to establish the vitality of KM in Bahrain’s organizational development practices. The instability being experienced in the modern economies has forced many governments to seek competitiveness in its organizations (In Ruhe & In Wohlin, 2014). Therefore, KM has continued to grow over the past decade. This research will also establish whether KM has holistically impacted on organizational learning in the government organizations of Bahrain. Using both a quantitative and qualitative approach, the researcher found that organizational learning is important in KM. Therefore, in order to test how KM influences organizational practices like organizational learning; the researcher used a questionnaire to get responses from government management within the Kingdom of Bahrain (Goh, 2002).
Apart from the survey study, the researcher also reviewed existing literature regarding KM in government projects within the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as the world over. The analysis of both hard and online sources shows a great impact of KM in government organizations in Bahrain. Using KM in most of the government projects has actually resulted in increased competitiveness in the country (Moffett, McAdam & Parkinson, 2003). The researcher has made a novel contribution regarding the employment of KM practices in government projects’ decision makers in order to ensure increased competitiveness in government projects. The data acquired in the study can be generalized and applied in the KM assessment within organizations. In addition, the Government of Bahrain as well as other GCC countries can refer to this study to ensure effective competitiveness as emerging economies (In Jamil et al, 2015, p80).
