Abstraction versus Representation: Physicists have always gone from representation to abstraction. How to represent and study a particular phenomenon and abstract from it the physical law, the universal idea or the F=ma universality.
Painters and sculptors have started to explore the abstraction domain in the late 20th century that apparently has been quite successful in making you feel something from a totally abstract representation.
