Bradstreet’s choice of diction, style, and education reflect the Renaissance time period in which she lived. Religion was extremely important during this time period, and her poems possess a common theme of family and unifying bonds due to this. By writing specifically about her family, Bradstreet emanates the Puritan beliefs by which she was raised, influencing many who were searching for religious freedom at the time through her writing.
