Case Study 3 – Individual Assignment

GOAL:
For this case study, the goal is for you to take the concepts about human resources,
change, innovation and communication that you have been learning in Chapters 11,
12 and 13 and then apply the concepts to a real world example of management and
organizations. These four concepts are some of the most interconnected concepts
within the organization.

PROCEDURE:
You are to work on this assignment as an individual.
To accomplish this, follow these steps:

1. REFLECTION TO PREPARE FOR DISCOVERY – DO NOT TURN IN:
Before reading, make a list for yourself (do not turn in) of what you think are the
characteristics of learning organizations, adaptable organizations and
innovative organizations? Where do they overlap? Where do they differ?

2. DISCOVERING TO PREPARE FOR WRITING – DO NOT TURN IN:

i. Briefly summarize (USE PROPER CITATIONS) the company’s
organizational culture, structure and external environment

ii. Identify the learning organization and innovation “building blocks”
Garvin, Edmonson & Gino, 2008, p. 6) characteristics that
Lululemon has (from what you can see online)

iii. Explain (i.e. give the rationale for) how these factors likely influence
their business
