Case Study#2

Ms. Jones is 52 year old Asian female who was evaluated in the community mental health center for follow up appointment after discharge from an inpatient psychiatric unit. She had a lithium level drawn 4 days prior to her appointment. The patient was seen by the advanced practice nurse and her lithium level was reviewed with the patient. The lithium level was 1.2. The patient had fine hand tremors, GI upset, mild polyurea, polydypsia, muscle weakness, and lethargy. The patient reported that in spite of not feeling well, she continued to take her medication until seen by the APRN.

For the student to create a holistic care plan for the patient; he/she will need to research Lithium use and effects.. Then to be able to see the patient’s view of the medication
