critique play out on the page? According to these works, how are such standards, norms, and/or
ideologies disseminated and enforced? What effects do they have? What alternatives do these texts
offer in their place? Your specific focus, of course, will depend on which works you choose and
on which issues they deal with most prominently. Be sure to discuss the texts in relation to one
another and not merely as separate entities. What conclusions can you draw by putting them
together?
