English Portfolio
TASK
You are to compose a portfolio of imaginative responses which demonstrate both your conceptual understanding of the ideas in Stone Cold and The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and your skill in composing for a variety of different purposes.
Your portfolio must include three pieces of writing from the unit which collectively meet the following marking criteria:
· Developed understanding of at least ONE idea in Stone Cold and/or The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
· Skill in analysing textual forms and features
· Skill in employing textual forms and features in your own compositions
· Technological skill
· Creative skill
For example, you could submit a PEEL paragraph, the letter and the diary entry. One piece should be a creative response.
In class you will undertake a variety of compositions as part of your Close Study of Stone Cold and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. You are only required to submit THREE of these tasks for your assessment. You may wish to include pieces on which you have received teacher feedback in which case you can use the feedback to refine your work. Each response should be approximately 300 words.

· Composes skilfully responses which demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of at least ONE idea explored in Stone Cold and/or The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
· Demonstrates a skilful ability to manipulate language forms and features to suit the purpose of the task
· Skilfuly employs a range of literary and figurative language devices and structures appropriate to audience purpose and form.
13-15
· Composes effective responses which demonstrate a competent understanding of at least ONE idea explored in Stone Cold and/or The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
· Demonstrates an effective ability to manipulate language forms and features to suit the purpose of the task
· Employs an effective range of literary and figurative language devices and structures appropriate to audience purpose and form.
10-12
· Composes responses which demonstrate an adequate understanding of at least ONE idea explored in Stone Cold and/or The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
· Demonstrates an ability to manipulate language forms and features to suit the purpose of the task
· Employs a range of literary and figurative language devices and structures appropriate to audience purpose and form.
