Get into Ebscohost and select Academic Search Premier to answer questions 1-2. Academic Search Premier is an interdisciplinary database that should have something on your topic.

1. (10 points) Do a Boolean search on your term project topic. For example, if your topic is: attention deficit disorder and the use of medication, type something like:
attention deficit and medication or ADD or ADHD and medication. Please report to me:

a. What keywords did you use, and why?

b. How many results did you get?

c. Were the search results relevant to the topic? If not, how might you revise your search?

d. Are you finding both magazine articles and scholarly articles? Other types? Please comment on the types of materials that you’re finding.
e. Find the most relevant article in full-text and email it to me FROM WITHIN EBSCOHOST at snfuchs@iusb.edu. Put your name in the subject line.

STAY IN THAT ONE ARTICLE TO WORK WITH QUESTION TWO!!

2. (10 points) Look at the subject terms in the article citation that you found in #1. The subject terms are listed in MOST but not all citations. Find one that seems relevant and click on it to do a new search.
a. What was the subject term you clicked on?

b. How many results did you get?

c. Were the results better or worse than the results you got in #1? Explain your answer.

Remember that you need to find at least four journal articles for your term project, so if any of them look good, save them and cite them (using EBSCOhost’s cite feature) for later.

3. (10 points) Look at the database listing in EBSCOhost. What other databases (besides Academic Search Premier) might you search to find materials on your topic? Read the database descriptions carefully. Please list the databases and briefly note why you think they might be relevant.
For questions 4 and 5, you must use the Periodical Holdings List.

4. (10 points total)
Does the Schurz Library own the journal called Communication Reports?
a. If so, in what databases?

b. Do we own it in print?
c. If so, for what years?

d. If you were looking for an article from the year 1986, could you find that in either of the databases or in print in our library?
5. (10 points) Does the Schurz Library own a journal called International journal of qualitative studies in education?

If the library doesn’t own the journal, how would you get an article from that journal that you need for your research (hint: this is a library service)?
