local news VS national news

For this assignment you will already have viewed local and National TV

news and tuned in morning drive-time radio.  We held discussion in class

on 8-30-18, when we compared and contrasted on-the-street local

reporters to local Anchor; then compared and contrasted local Anchor to

National Anchor. Much of our discussion centered on delivery method,

skill and ability to express and connect with viewers.

For our discussion of Drive-time Radio we described what impresses us

from a How-to-Communicate point-of-view. Here again we listened for

delivery method, skill and ability to express and connect with the

audience. Obviously there is no visual and we discussed how this medium

differs from the TV part of the assignment.

Your writing assignment is to summarize your observations about the

comparisons of local TV to National and then these to drive-time radio.

Feel free to cite to Munter’s Chapter One and anything in class Lectures

and our class discussion from last evening’s class.

Use the memo format (the format I use here) for your report to be

completed and submitted as above.  Memo is necessary but will not be

included for word count. Make sure you identify the day/time of your

observations.  Include station and/or network identification.  Also

include names of the on-air personalities.  The body of your Memo should

be at least 1,000 words.  You need to write well, which is very often

achieved in the edit phase of writing.
