Mental disorders and Suicide as result of homosexual harassment

Topic: Mental disorders and Suicide as result of homosexual harassment (& a little about: the importance of creating an inclusive and understandable society/school climate)
This is an EXTENDED essay for my Psychology exam. It is supposed to be no more than 4000 words and we had to chose topic and research question our self. My conducted research question that needs to be deeply researched and discussed is as following:

“To what extent are homosexual individuals psychologically affected by harassment and victimization?»

Here is the information from the University about the extended essay:
“Your essay should be based at least on five empirical (data-based) papers that were published in the last three years (2014, 2015, 2016/2017). Once you have identified these papers, you should write a full review of the topic. You are strongly encouraged not to base your essay just around four articles, which would invariably result in a terrible review. Instead, you should read widely once you know you have found a topic of current interest with recent empirical publications. After reading the basic references, the additional references you come across will allow you to search out topics of specific interest.

Describe and critically evaluate the empirical research on this topic. Illustrate hos relevant theories might underpin or relate to empirical research on the chosen topic. Formulate an essay in an appropriate APA style, including an introduction and conclusion. Your line of argument needs to be good. It have to be written in a good grammatical and academic style and structured clearly. Use double spaced, Times New Roman, size 12»

As aforementioned; In the essay, one requirement is to write the essay and assess the research question with the basis of at least 5 recent (from 2013-2017) chosen research articles in addition to other references/empirical data. The chosen research articles are listed here in the end. You should deeply analyze/review the listed recent studies. We should use as many references as possible and therefore have I said that I need approximately 30-40 references.

This is my suggestion of what to include/how to structure:
In the beginning, the essay should explain homosexuality, a sexual orientation, from the biological perspective. Then it could explore the types of harassment that (young) homosexuals are subjected to, and present studies to display that homosexuals are, in fact exposed to many types of harassment. Next, it could consider the psychological problems/mental health consequences that students/individuals suffer from after being victims of harassment (and compared to heterosexuals, as an evidence supporting the argument). Studies and statistics should be described to show that e.g. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and suicide are two major dilemmas that homosexual youth are left with after harassment. PTSD is usually a result of bullying or verbal harassment. Suicide is usually the result from all types of harassment, and is often the outcome of the victim feeling hopeless. Suggestions should be offered to make schools safer environments for the homosexuals (mainly that sexual orientation needs to be clarified and to students of all schools/staff/society (and of course should it be supported with references/evidence)

Something to conclude with: display that harassment takes a serious toll on homosexual youth (maybe compared to heterosexuals). Some members of society believe that homosexual youth have psychological disorders only because of their sexual orientation, but the essay should contrastingly clearly define that harassment is the main factor. The importance of creating a more inclusive and understandable school/society climate. With understanding, one day maybe harassment against homosexuals will come to an end.
