Not getting help from anyone
walking stick
glasses
almost everything she needs help with
daily discomfort
no one listens
thinks the medications aren’t working
pain in joints – knees and right leg mostly
had broken leg a couple of years ago – metal and wire in it
plays up with the cold weather
medication makes her constipated – fruit salts but can’t go out that day
codeine forte when she gets pain
doesn’t go out much – doesn’t feel safe
– scared of falling
– not sure where to go
– only on a pension
– doesn’t think there is anywhere for people like her to go
mobility problem
doesn’t take the codeine because it makes her funny in the head – she wants to think straight, it makes her bump into the furniture
she has tried voltaran nothing other than drugs.
thinks the drs are sick of old people complaining
before she hurt her leg she could go down town, hop on a bus safely
meet up with her mates and have a drink
her mates are gone now, she thinks she is on her own all of her mates have died or they can’t get around
she is lonely
she can’t see that well, she use to do fancy work but can’t anymore
watches TV, lots of rubbish and some scary and violent
sits and thinks a lot
use to read but can’t anymore because of her eyes
had a cat but someone removed the cat and mats cause they were in her way (falls risk)
doesn’t cook much anymore – gets meals on wheels likes the people but not the food
isn’t eating well, living on porridge, tea and biscuits
shopping – neighbour next door in hospital, normally gets her things
she has tins but finds it hard to open
has no family was married but he left long time ago, he drank and hit her
use to go to church, liked it for the company and tea and food
goes only to funerals, thinks she will call someone but then remembers that they are gone
feels she has outlived her friends – disadvantage
she feels like a nuisance
she hasn’t found any younger friends still looking
feels old aged 84
bit deaf
mind is going she if a bit forgetful, put something down and spend the rest of the day looking for it
lost lots of things
carries most of her valuable possessions in her bag with her everywhere and sleeps with that bag in her bed
she is scared that someone is going to come in at night and hit her on the head, read it in the paper
Gov flat – on the ground floor no steps, guards on the windows
worries if it caught on fire she won’t get out
lots to worry about at her age
would like a bigger pension but you can’t everything in life
