Collaborative management research (CMR) is useful for improving the relevance of management science and the researchers involved (Cirella et al., 2011). Collaborative management research orientations similar to system thinking. CMR is an effort between both researchers and practitioners in a natural setting that addresses an emerging specific issue of concern, uses multiple methodologies that are scientific, involves the creation of a learning system via the establishment of learning mechanisms, improves the system performance and, adds to the scientific body of knowledge in the field of management. CMR in translated terms is the collaborative effort between an organizations management team and external researchers to achieve a common goal.
This model can fit in my professional setting in many ways. Since my profession requires a lot of human action, psychological principles can be applied. Management usually wants effective conversations between clients, so research can support how to improve relationships. Internally workflows are always looking to be improved by management, so research can help improve it. The CMR approach is a textbook example of a Scholar Practitioner model. In any field, the SP model is useful to help improve the organization.
