Plan Review
You are asked to select ONE of the following development plans:
• Scotland National Marine Plan
For your selected plan you are asked to write a review of approximately 2000 words which provides an analysis of how the plan was prepared. Your review should consider:
• The range of evidence that was used to inform the plan
• Has the plan considered future trends/scenarios and if so how?
• What type of analysis and synthesis techniques have been used to distil key findings?
• What are the key components of the plans strategy and how is the strategy conveyed to the reader?
• How does the plan consider implementation, monitoring and review?
• What is its approach to community involvement?
• Has the plan been subject to Strategic Environmental Appraisal?
• What is your overall assessment of the quality of the plan preparation process?
The class sessions between week’s 3 and 10 will help you understand what you should be looking for in your selected plan in relation to each of the aspects of the plan review. Your account should be clearly structured and include diagrams and illustrations where appropriate to add depth and detail in a concise way.
