reflection paper
First, think about the types of exploitation that exist locally (think about what you’ve seen and heard throughout this experience). It might be a type of oppression,
like racism or hetereosexism, or it might be about institutional challenges, for example. Then write a reflective essay, in which you explore how larger social
institution(s) shape your life. In preparation for writing this paper, consider the following: (Answer all the questions!!!! please)
• How do your values and beliefs shape how you communicate about gender, race, poverty, and/or health?
• Where did those values/beliefs come from?
• How do your values/beliefs shape your judgments and assumptions about people who are
different from you (e.g. racially, economically, in terms of ability, etc.)?
• What risks do micro/macro aggressions(please search online if you don’t know the term) pose to you? How do you resist them, if at all?
• What benefits do you derive from systems of micro/macro-aggressions? How/why do you
participate in/perpetuate these aggressions?
• How do social structures surrounding race, gender, class, etc. either compel you or dissuade you
from either challenging or accepting micro/macro-aggressions?
• What toll does your micro/macro-aggression footprint take on your won wellbeing and spirit as
well as the relationship(s) you have with others, as you learn more about it?
• How might you lighten your micro/macro-aggression footprint?
Focus on both micro- and macro-aggressions in your analysis and think about specific forms of exploitation you are controlled by and/or contribute to. EXAMPLES: Do you
know that there is a housing crisis in San Francisco, but rent a room out using AirBnb? Are you aware of the exploitation that happens to Uber drivers, but choose to
take one instead of the bus? Have you consciously chosen to avoid eating in the Tenderloin, opting for Munchery or GrubHub instead? Did you choose not to vote in the
election because you didn’t have time to learn about the candidates/issues? Did you support the city’s decision to move homeless people out of the public eye for the
Superbowl? When you do these things, what do you fail to be aware of in the lives of other people? Analyze this!Note: All written work must follow the following
guidelines: Typed, using 12-point font, Times New Roman, black ink, double spaced, 1-inch margins on all sides, stapled in the top left corner. All assignments for
this class should conform to APA 6th edition style. It is your responsibility to obtain the style guide and make sure you understand how to properly cite your sources
