Data Analysis • District Training (October 7th/12th) revealed that 30% of the students that failed TAKS district-wide were in fact Benchmark level students.
Therefore, benchmark students must be focused on just as much as the strategic and intensive students.
• Also, this focus will increase commended rates as well as eliminate the failure rate for benchmark students in testing.
• Targeted Instruction groups based on data analysis (DIBELS, Lexile/SRI, DRA) done with classroom teachers and CRS’s/IF & administration. (October 5th)
Educator Learning Goals • Goal—All students will show at least one year’s worth of growth by the end of each school year, according to district assessments such
as DIBELS, SRI/Lexile, District benchmarks, and TAKS testing.
• Focus—Targeted Instruction lessons will be geared at achieving this goal for benchmark students.
Learning Strategies • Literacy menus, choices, and point systems for benchmark students to use during Targeted Instruction.
• One grade level representative creating the benchmark lesson plans for the rest of their team—more collaboration, less planning time used by the collective
group.
Job-embedded coaching or other forms of assistance • District Trainings—Oct. 12th (Targeted Instruction, Ideas for Benchmark, and Above)
• Planning periods/planning days, teachers observing each other (class coverage provided by support staff).
• Peer coaching with classroom teachers and CRS’s/IF.
• Support staff (ESL/CRS’s/IF) pull small groups during Targeted Instruction time.
• Reflections based on Virtual Field Experiences
