The Integrated Master Plan and Schedule are Program Management tools providing assistance to the Program Manager in the scheduling and managing of large and complex projects. Think Space Shuttle development and missions or the development of a new commercial or military aircraft. As a project or program manager leveraging tools to dissect a project or program into its manageable pieces may require multiple project plans led by multiple project managers.

Pulling these plans together into one cohesive high level plan is a challenge and can require a large amount of resources and time. Integration of all the pieces is critical to the overall success and timeline of the program. Critical paths must be managed closely and communication across all projects is essential.

For the discussion this week I would like you to:
•Discuss your involvement in a large scale project either as a team member or program manager ?If you have not been involved in a large scale project, research one and discuss the project
•Discuss the main issues and risks involved in a large scale program
•Discuss how you would (or have) manage(d) a large scale program leveraging an integrated master plan and schedule. (What would the key topics for managing a large scale project be for you)
