Topic: Book Review on Masters of the Word How media shaped history from the alphabet to the internet by William J. Bernstein

A good book review is likely to contain the following elements:

1. Thesis: the authors chief point or points of view regarding the field or subject being discusses; what does the author wish to show or prove about his/her subject?
The thesis is the unifying element of the book or article and thus must be detected in order to understand the book or article. It is sometimes stated very explicitly
by the author, and sometimes it is implied only indirectly.

2. A brief summary and analysis of the books contents. What subject has been treated in the book? Has the author treated the subject chronologically, topically, or by
some other method? How does the author attempt to prove the thesis he/she has established? As part of this summary and analysis, you should discuss the most important
facts the author uses to support the book’s thesis.

3. Critique: This is the most important part of the review. It is your evaluation of the book or article you have read. Criticism does not always have to be negative
or hostile; positive aspects of a book or article deserve as much comment as suggestions for improvement. As part of your critique, you should consider several points:
A. Does the author have an obvious bias or point of view that might give the work greater or less credibility? Note: an obvious bias or point of view does not
necessarily undermine a books credibility.

B. Does the author prove his/her thesis to your satisfaction? Is he/she convincing? Does he/she make sense, or is his/her argument based on faulty reasoning?

C. Is the book well written? This requires that you evaluate the literary character of the book.

D. Does the author provide any aids to assist the reader? Such aids could include maps, genealogical charts, statistical data, graphs, pictures, table of contents,
index, bibliography, etc. Were those aids helpful? If such aids are not provided, would they have been helpful if they had been provided?

You should provide a complete citation of the book at the top of the first page of the review.
