Assessment Guidelines
Students are required to research an organisation of their choice and discuss the organisation under the headings provided.
The assignment should use Arial font, size 12 and 1.5 line spacing. The assignment should comprise of about 1,500-2,000 words, must use Harvard referencing and include a bibliography at the end of the assignment. The assignment must also use page numbers.

The specific tasks to be researched and presented are as follows:

• Cover Page: Student’s name, assignment number, subject, class and year should be presented on this page.

• An Introduction to the selected organisation: Students should present a page to a half page to a page giving an introduction to the company. This introduction should include details of the name, location and purpose of the business. Students should also include the selected company’s mission statement.

• Discuss the structure of the selected organisation: Students should discuss layers of staff in the organisation and the structure employed by the organisation e.g. Tall or Flat. In addition students should provide an organisational chart for the selected organisation. Students should also discuss the various departments within the organisation.

• The methods of communication used by the organisation: This section should commence with a brief definition of what is meant by communication. Is communication direct or indirect within the organisation? What internal systems of communication are available within the organisation? What external systems of communication are employed? Students should describe and evaluate the communication methods employed.

• Quality: This section should commence with a brief definition of what quality control is. Students should also describe what is meant by quality awards. What are the quality controls used by the organisation. What quality awards does the company have? Students should describe the quality award and discuss why they are necessary.

• Human resources: This section should commence with a brief definition of Human resources. Identify the roles of various departments within the organisation. Students should discuss the role of Human resources in particular.

• Recruitment: Examine a range of recruitment options for selecting and appointing staff and current employment rights legislation as it pertains to the staff selection and appointment.

• Analyse the impact of the external environment on a business: Conduct a SWOT or PEST analysis on the selected organisation.

• Conclusion: A brief section summarising the learning’s of the assignment.

• Bibliography: An alphabetical list of books, websites, articles, journal and periodicals.
